WHAT IS THIS THING?
===================================================

This is a translation tool called “Babbler”.

What it does:

* Translate YOUR text into someone else’s language

What it does NOT do:

* Does NOT translate text in private message/IM

* Does NOT translate OTHER PEOPLE’S text into your language
— This is why there is a GIFT feature - everyone in the conversation
should have one, and everyone should have it running.

===================================================
SETTING UP YOUR FREE BABBLER TOOL
===================================================

1) Find the Babbler in your inventory - it defaults to your objects folder.
Or you can search for “Babbler” and it should come right up.

(This notecard will default to your “Notecards” folder when you save it)

2) Right-click, then “Wear” the babbler. It will default to the uppper left of your
screen - you should see a cluster of 4 circles.

3) The FIRST time you wear the Babbler, it should pop up a blue menu and ask
you what language you speak. Choose your NATIVE LANGUAGE.

If you make a mistake and choose the wrong language, click the
tiny red circle and you will get this popup window again.

4) Click the biggest circle and it will pop up a menu that wants to know what
language you want your typing translated TO.

5) If the biggest circle is green, then the babbler is on and will actively attempt to
translate anything you say.

6) When you want to turn it off, click the biggest circle again - it will turn white.

7) The “Q” button is “quiet mode”
* When it’s off (default), other people will see both your native language
and the translation

* When quiet mode is OFF, it tends to look more “spammy”, however it can
be useful for other people to see both what you originally say as well as
the translation - which will help them figure out what you are really trying
to say if they have at least some understanding of your language.

* When it’s on, it will tell you a channel number - talk to the Babbler on that
channel to give it what you want translated. Other people will see ONLY
the translation.

** To repeatedly use the same same channel without typing /13 (or whatever
channel number it gives you) simply use // in front of your text.

For example, if you start with: /13 Hi, how are you?
Any chat after that, you can use: // So where are the freebies?
(or whatever else you want to say)

===================================================
TIPS FOR USING BABBLER
===================================================

1) It is a machine translation tool, using Google’s translation engine.
It’s not perfect - but it’s better than nothing.
Pirate translation is via http://pirate.monkeyness.com/.

2) Keep it simple! Translations will be easier if you keep what you say to the
reading level of an average 10-yr old, or as close as you can get.
Proper spelling goes a long way.

3) Shorter sentences will be easier to successfully translate than longer ones.

===================================================
SHARE THE BABBLER LOVE!
===================================================

Please use the gift function to pass it on - it’s free, and needs to be shared!
Don’t forget to give a copy of this notecard file (separately) to the other person.
It will help them get their Babbler working faster.

1) Click the gift-wrapped package circle

2) It will pop up a blue menu with a selection of names within range.

3) Select the name you want to send a copy to.

4) Give them a copy of this notecard so they know how to set it up!

=======

If the person you are speaking to is not within gift range…

OR the area is too crowded…(12+ avatars within 50meters)

…pass them this notecard so they have a link for where to get their own FREE copy:
