nicecast streaming to shoutcast

This one’s for the phreak-radio.com/mac people.

How to use Nicecast (For the Max OS X) with our shoutcast server. (phreak-radio.com)

Hi.

So, it’s petty easy to get started broadcasting on the mac.

First thing you’ll want to do is install Nicecast. It’ll ask to install one or two other things, just say yes. You’ll probably have to reboot.

Oooooookay.
So, Nicecast is installed. Start it up.

Once it starts, you want to find the Server Window. You can get to it by hitting APPLE-2, or selecting Server from the Window menu.

You should see something like this:

What you want to do is click on one of the button the arrows are pointing to

a drawer will slide out to the left or right, depending on which one you push.

Click on the + sign on the bottom of the drawer. That will set up a new server - fill in the info like you see below: (NOTE: The password is blurred out. Get the proper password from a Station Manager)

So fill it out like in my pic. Done? Good. Let’s move on.

Let’s click Source button in the Broadcast window. For music, you want to pick iTunes (or whatever you want actually from the drop downs- could be skype for instance, if you wanted to do a chat show).

But for this example, iTunes will do.

Next: Info tab. Go on, click it, I dare you.
For Name: put
Phreak-RadiO! *** Second Life’s Rock, Trance, Soul source of Freedom via Bandwidth on the Net!!!
For Aim: put DJ:Your Name Here and for URL put http://listen.phreak-radio.com

On to broadcast Quality! Copy the pic below.

Don’t even bother with share, and effects are beyond the scope of this tutorial. Play around with it once you got everything working.

    Hi guys,

I have developed a program which is supposed to help people who have Nicecast either behind a firewall or a router and can not get it working…

Naiocast is a real live free HTTP streaming server working on a classic web hosting.

Naiocast enables live transmission of audio mp3 data.

    Naiocast works along with Nicecast

Naiocast grabs real time audio data from Nicecast (Broadcasting locally) and makes a POST http connection to the source.pl (Naiocast) file on the server…

you can transmit and/or listen in that network environment, business typical, in which there is a blocking firewall that disable all but web traffic, so no streaming is possible.

Passing retrictive firewalls means mainly reach an huge number of potential listeners, beacuse the big part of internet users, durning entire morning, uses the connectivity of their office.

In order to listen to your Broadcast you’ll make a simple GET http connection to the script reader.pl (Naiocast) on the server by using RealPlayer or suchlike…

    Naiocast is written in perl
